Martha Argerich entered my musical world in the late 1970s through Chopin’s Preludes, introduced to me by the outstanding Bulgarian pianist Emma Tahmizian. To this day, she remains my measure of uncompromising artistry and of the miracles that unfold in the silence between the notes.
